🧪 Surgical procedure
- Anesthesia: The surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia.
- Incision techniques: Depending on the initial findings:
- Periareolar (only around the nipple)
- Lejour technique (state-of-the-art technique, minimal scarring, vertical — around the nipple and vertically downwards)
- T-incision (additional horizontal incision in the inframammary fold, rarely required)
- Tissue reshaping: Glandular tissue and skin are tightened, and the nipple area is raised.
- Suture closure: Fine suture technique for minimal scarring, often with dissolvable sutures.
⏳ Healing process
- Hospital stay: Usually 1 night inpatient
- Rest period: 2–3 weeks
- Abstinence from exercise: approximately 6 weeks
- Special bra: To be worn for 4–6 weeks
- Scars: Usually fade and repigment over time, often within 3–6 months, but may remain slightly visible depending on the predisposition to scar healing.

- Wound healing problems
- Scar formation or hardening, sometimes hypertrophic scars in predisposed individuals
- Changes in sensitivity of the nipple or skin (very rare)
- Asymmetries (extremely rare)
- Repeat surgery is possible, for example, in the case of subsequent weight loss, but long-lasting aesthetic results can generally be expected.
- Breastfeeding ability may be impaired (depending on the surgical technique, but very rare)
