Nose surgery (medically known as rhinoplasty) is a surgical procedure that alters the external shape and/or function of the nose. It is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries worldwide, but can also be performed for medical reasons (e.g., to improve breathing). Here is an overview of the most important aspects:

🔹 Reasons for a Rhinoplasty

Aesthetic Reasons:

  • Hump on the bridge of the nose
  • Crooked or asymmetrical nose
  • Nose that is too large or too small
  • Wide nostrils or nasal tip

Medical Reasons:

  • Deviated septum
  • Breathing problems
  • After accidents or injuries
  • Congenital malformations

🔹 Types of Rhinoplasty

1. Closed Rhinoplasty:

  • Incisions are made only inside the nose
  • Less visible scars
  • Shorter healing time

2. Open Rhinoplasty:

  • Incision at the columella (between the Nostrils)
  • Better visibility for the surgeon in more complex cases

3. Functional Rhinoplasty:

  • Focus on restoring nasal breathing

4. Non-surgical Nose Correction (with Hyaluronic Acid):

  • Temporary correction through injections
  • No surgery, but also not a permanent solution

🔹 Procedure

Consultation

  • Clarification of wishes, examination of the nose, simulation of the result if necessary

Preliminary examination

  • Blood tests, possibly CT scan

Surgery

  • Duration 1–3 hours, usually under general anesthesia

Aftercare

  • Splint on the nose (approx. 1 week), swelling and bruising common
